The ‘ Golden Age’ lasted only as long as it took the various races to populate the world to the point where they began to encounter one another and compete for resources. Once again, this is far before the time of even the most ancient recordings available to the priests of Chronos, so little specific information is known. Each race, according to their side of the story, blames the others for starting the conflict. Many believe that the ancient enmity that exists between elves and dwarves first emerged from this period. Many elves also believe this to be the point in time at which Lolth and the drow were driven out of elven society by Corellon Larethian (although if this were the case, it could not have been Corellon and Lolth who were in direct conflict, but rather two gods from a far older pantheon), as well as the epic wars between Corellon and Gruumsh (again, if so, if would have been older archetypes of these gods).
Regardless, the relative abundance and prosperity all the races had previously known had come to an end, and centuries of conflict began. Over time, various balances of power were achieved, and the land was uneasily divided between the races, ushering in the 2nd age of the world.
