The Dark Ages

“Not that the Dark Ages were completely bad. At least there were no tax collectors”
Manicarpe

What followed the Godswar is a period of complete and utter anarchy, the 4th age of the world, better known as the Dark Ages. Civilization as it had been was destroyed. The gods were dead (or at the very least, banished to another plane of existence), and their creations were utterly without guidance.

Most civilized scholars view this as a period utterly devoid of technological, artistic. or arcane advances, and many believe that much of the skills learned by the races prior to this time were lost during this age. Certainly, no beings now approach the powers alluded to by the ancient texts, although some scholars believe it was not a backwards slide so much as an intentional destruction of magicks which had proved far to dangerous to control during the Godswar.
